Mission Statement

Lonestar Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Amarillo is founded upon principles of compassionate patient care and surgical excellence, offering the most technically advanced oral and maxillofacial surgical care in the Texas Panhandle.” 

We are based in Amarillo, but we welcome patients from all over the Texas and Oklahoma Panhandles, Eastern New Mexico, Southern Kansas, and Western Oklahoma.

At Lone Star Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Amarillo, we want to ensure you have the best experience possible with every procedure we offer. To ensure that, we use the Prexion Cone Beam CT scanner to give us a custom 3D rendering of your oral cavity and face. The images it provides are precise, clear, and give us the ability to have better diagnostic capabilitiesThis ensures you will get surgically accurate and precise treatment as a patient. We can also show you the 3D rendering and answer any questions that you might have prior to your procedure.

Dr. Aaron Atkins of Amarillo, TX

Dr. Aaron Atkins DDS, MD

Dr. Atkins is a native of the Texas Panhandle. He grew up in Lubbock and attended college at Texas Tech University. In 2009 he graduated in the top of his class from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry in San Antonio where he received with his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He then completed a surgical internship and continued his medical studies in Shreveport, Louisiana.  He received his Doctorate of Medicine in 2012 from Louisiana State University-Shreveport.  Next he completed his surgical residency at LSU-Shreveport in 2015. Presently, Dr. Atkins is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Dr. Daniel Ripperger of Amarillo, TX

Dr. Daniel Ripperger DDS, MD

Dr. Daniel Ripperger was born and raised in Amarillo.  After graduating from Amarillo High School, he attended Texas A&M University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology.  Dr. Ripperger continued his training at the Texas A&M Baylor College of Dentistry in Dallas where he was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honor Society.  In 2020, he graduated as Salutatorian with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery.  Dr. Ripperger then completed his surgical training at the University of Oklahoma in Oklahoma City, graduating in 2024.

Throughout his surgical training, Dr. Ripperger gained proficiency in utilizing cutting-edge technology in the diagnosis and treatment of his patients, including the use of intraoral scanners, 3-D printers, and in-office cone beam scan technology.  He is well-versed in computer-aided virtual surgical planning for corrective jaw surgery, bone grafting, maxillofacial trauma, and complex dental implant procedures.  Dr. Ripperger is dedicated to advancing his knowledge of the specialty through active involvement in professional organizations, including the Panhandle District Dental Society and Southwest Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons, to provide optimal care for his patients.
