Dr. Aaron Atkins DDS, MD
Lone Star Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Amarillo is founded upon principles of excellence, offering the most technically advanced oral and maxillofacial surgical care possible in the Texas Panhandle.
Dr. Aaron Atkins is a native of the Texas Panhandle. He grew up in Lubbock and attended college at Texas Tech University. In 2009 he graduated in the top of his class from the University of Texas Health Science Center School of Dentistry in San Antonio where he received with his Doctor of Dental Surgery. He then completed a surgical internship and continued his medical studies in Shreveport, Louisiana. He received his Doctorate of Medicine in 2012 from Louisiana State University-Shreveport. Next he completed his surgical residency at LSU-Shreveport in 2015. Presently, Dr. Atkins is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon by the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.
Dedication to ongoing professional development through continuing education and the acquisition of new technologies is at the core of Dr. Atkins practice. Dr. Atkins is actively involved in the local Panhandle District Dental Society and is a co-director of a local Spears Dental Study Club. Lone Star Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery of Amarillo is in the forefront of utilizing computerized skeletal and facial analysis through computer aided design, “virtual surgery”, and in-office cone beam scan technology. Very few offices in Amarillo offer this cutting-edge technology, allowing for precise placement of dental implants and other surgical procedures. Dr. Atkins is one of the most experienced surgeons at using these technologies in his specialty.
Service to the community is of utmost importance to Dr. Atkins. His expertise in handling complex facial trauma allows him to be actively involved with local hospitals taking trauma call. He also actively participates in the Heal the City Program helping care for the less fortunate in our city.
Although Dr. Atkins is passionate about utilizing his skills to change the lives of his patients, he also hopes to be known for the application of his strong personal beliefs in the context of his profession. Dr. Atkins strives to make his professional and personal life a reflection of his Christian faith. He works to have his caring service to his patients, and the mission of his business, all be a representation of this conviction.
